What is Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is a way of understanding and working with psychological and emotional difficulties in a deeper way. It is based on the idea that our past experiences and early relationships can shape how we feel, think, and relate to others in the present, often outside of our conscious awareness. Sometimes this can leave us feeling stuck, repeating patterns, or struggling in ways that are hard to explain.

Therapy room

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is a non-directive talking therapy where we aim to explore these patterns together in a thoughtful and reflective way. By paying attention to your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, including those that arise in the therapeutic relationship, we can begin to make sense of important patterns. This process can lead to greater self-understanding, emotional freedom, and the possibility of making more meaningful and lasting changes in your life.

Psychotherapy can be brief in nature, focusing on your current difficulties, or a longer-term exploration of the origins of repeated patterns of difficulty.
